Grilled Green Pepper Spread – Slata Meshwia

Slata Meshwia is a traditional Tunisian grilled salad made with charred tomatoes, peppers, onions, and garlic, mixed with olive oil, salt, and pepper. It’s perfect as a side dish, a bruschetta topping, or paired with grilled meats.

Ingredients:

  • 4 large tomatoes
  • 2 green bell peppers
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1 onion
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: capers, olives, tuna, boiled eggs for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Grill Vegetables: Grill tomatoes, peppers, onion, and garlic until charred and soft (about 10-15 minutes). Allow them to cool.
  2. Peel and Chop: Peel the grilled vegetables, remove seeds, and finely chop.
  3. Mix Salad: In a bowl, combine the chopped vegetables with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Garnish and Serve: Top with optional capers, olives, tuna, or boiled eggs.
